After a life changing chiropractic adjustment in 1988, I knew I wanted to give to people, what my chiropractor, Dr. McLaren, had given to me. I came in scared as a 20 year old, but knew I needed to receive treatment, because my neck was literally stuck and could not be moved. I was taking Music Industry as a major at the State University of New York at Oneonta. While playing the piano for sometimes 4 hours a day I remembered having to rub my tingling neck to keep playing. Well, one day my body shut down and my roommate recommended I see a chiropractor, and I was like, “oh yea…of course.”
I did graduate undergraduate school at Oneonta in 1991 and then immediately moved down to Marietta, Georgia to begin Life University, at the time, the largest chiropractic school in the United States. I can look back at those years while as a graduate student as one of my most fulfilling years in my life. I can also admit they were also the most challenging years since acquiring a Doctor of Chiropractic degree took another 4 years of schooling and learning every aspect of the human body did not come easy for me (or for most people I would venture to say).
As soon as I graduated from Life University, I did go into private practice due to the confidence my mentors had in me. These past 15 years have been a blessing. I’ve been given the ability to care for many people some of whom have had life changing events due to the chiropractic adjustment. I should also mention that along the way I married my college girlfriend and together, we now have two daughters who are 9 and 11.
In my personal time I’ve become a competitive natural bodybuilder. How did this happen? Well, a few years back, I realized I did not like the way my body was sagging due to inactivity and poor eating habits. I realized quickly that if I wanted to inspire people I took care of, to care for their bodies properly, I needed to at least appear healthy…and in my opinion, I looked no different than any of my patients, which would not be too inspiring. I hired a nutritionist and a personal trainer, and in 6 months time, I realized I had a new found hobby. No, I’m not planning on becoming the next Arnold, but when I am away from the office and from family, spending time in the gym is the place I like to be.
